NEWS of Napa appoints two new members to nonprofit board of directors

NEWS Domestic Violence & Sexual Abuse Services announced the election of two community leaders to its board of directors: former Napa Mayor Jill Techel and Davet "Dee" Mohammed, nurse and clinical liaison at Sacramento Rehabilitation Hospital.
Techel brings “extensive leadership experience and deep community ties to the organization, having served four terms as mayor of Napa and 25 years as program director of Leadership Napa Valley,” said the release.
Throughout her career, “Techel has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to addressing community challenges while developing and inspiring new community leaders in Napa Valley. Her proven track record in public service and leadership development makes her an invaluable addition to the NEWS board.”
Davet "Dee" Mohammed joins the board as a dedicated community leader and health care professional, said the release. In her current role as Bay Area nurse liaison for Sacramento Rehabilitation Hospital, Mohammed combines her medical expertise with her passion for public service, said the release.
She serves as planning commissioner chair for the city of American Canyon and pastoral council chair for Holy Family Church. As a new member of Progressive Women Napa Valley and safety educator for Warrior Spirit Training Initiative, “Mohammed empowers individuals through martial arts and self-defense education, focusing on confidence, discipline and resilience.”
