Program and Service Overview

Napa Emergency Women's Services (NEWS) was established in 1981 and remains the ONLY organization in Napa County exclusively dedicated to providing critical, emergency assistance to battered women and their children.  NEWS protects our community's most vulnerable women and children by providing essential services and life-protecting confidential sanctuary from the terrifying violence that rips through their lives.  Domestic violence crosses all social and economic lines; however, 80-90% of our clients are low to very low income. NEWS assists DV victims regardless of gender, sex, race, age, religion, sexual orientation, pregnancy, marital status, national origin or income level and all of our services are available in both Spanish and English and are provided without charge.

Our Mission

The mission of Napa Emergency Women's Services (NEWS) is to provide a nurturing refuge for women and children suffering the effects of domestic violence (DV) and to be a catalyst for change through prevention, intervention and advocacy.
